My Writing Journey

I’ve been telling stories since I could hold a pencil, some better than others (thankfully, none of the early ones made it to print). Eventually, I decided to take the leap and self-publish my first book in 2017. It was a wild ride that taught me everything from cover design to late-night formatting panic. But mainly the panic part. Most importantly, it proved that writing isn’t just something I do. It’s who I am. Another important organ that keeps me feeling alive.

A few years later, I signed with an amazing agent (hurray!). We dove headfirst into submissions, learned a ton, and then parted ways amicably when it was time for a new chapter. Literally. Now I’m back in the query trenches, coffee in hand and hope intact, wrists sore from all the typing.

I write fantasy, horror, thriller, and contemporary stories for readers of all ages—middle grade, young adult, and adult alike. I’ve even written and officiated three wedding ceremonies.

My goal? To craft stories that make you feel something. To leave you thinking long after the final page. And ultimately, so you, the reader, can have a little fun as you flick through the pages (no paper cuts, please!).

I grew up on a steady diet of Stephen King, R.J. Palacio, John Green (fun fact: we went to the same high school), Christopher Paolini, Riley Sager, Brandon Sanderson, and Rebecca Yarros. These amazing authors, and many others, taught me that the right story at the right time can change your life.

So, that’s my goal. Find a home for my stories, and never stop writing.

About the Author

I’m a 32-year-old psychology graduate from the University of Colorado Boulder, now living in Denver, CO. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, I grew up with my nose buried in books. Brian Jacques’ Redwall sparked the fire early, and soon I was devouring Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, and The Hunger Games. Pretty much anything that could transport me somewhere new. Whether it was late on a Friday night or during my sister’s soccer games, I was always reading.

After college, I spent nearly a decade in medical sales, helping surgeons in operating rooms by day and scribbling story ideas by night. By 2018, I realized my heart belonged not in hospitals, but in the worlds of fiction I couldn’t stop creating. Since then, I’ve written across genres—fantasy, horror, thriller, and contemporary—for readers of all ages.

When I’m not writing, you’ll usually find me on a pickleball or tennis court, watching whatever sport happens to be on, or (if we’re being honest) dominating my fantasy football leagues. Writing started as a passion, but over time it’s become a way to connect, to spook, and to maybe impact a few lives along the way, including my own.
